Galerie Alain Marcelpoil

Specialized in furniture and art objects from the Art Deco period (1920-1930), the Alain Marcelpoil Gallery pays tribute to André Sornay’s work.

Alain Marcelpoil, native from Lyon in France, founded the gallery in 2006. He introduced the public to André Sornay’s exceptional prewar and postwar creations, whose are utterly modern, personal and particularly innovative. Indeed, thanks to his technique of « cloutage » this inventive creator manufactured in small series « various works of art at modest prices, unique items ».

« Cloutage » was a clever way to democratize art, following the example of the craftsmen of the Union des Artistes Modernes (U.A.M). Recognized as a major actor in avant-garde art, André Sornay, who remained out of the public eye for a long time, now occupies the foreground of the national and international art scene : PAD Paris and PAD London, TEFAF Maastricht and New York.

Alain Marcelpoil is a member of the Compagnie Nationales des Experts (CNE) and the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art (CGPA). He is also an expert on the BRAFA Brussels and Pavillon des Arts et du Design Paris and London expert committees.
