This week, discover an autograph letter by Amedeo Modigliani presented by Galerie Autographes des Siècles, a chair by Maria Pergay chosen by Galerie Demisch Danant and a work by Pascal Convert proposed by Galerie RX.

Autographes des Siècles gallery is specialized, for many years, in the appraisal and sale of autograph letters, manuscripts and works of art relating to the great personalities of the past centuries. You will discover in our gallery the works and signatures of those who made the glory of Arts, Literature, History and Science, throughout the world.

Julien Paganetti, founder of the gallery, is an expert approved by the C.N.E (National Company of Experts) and the F.N.E.P.S.A (National Federation of Professional Experts Specialized in the Arts).

Autographes des Siècles is also a member of S.L.A.M (Syndicat de la Librairie Ancienne et Moderne) and I.L.A.B (International League of Antiquarian booksellers)

One-page 8vo, in French.  (Paris). November 8, 1916.
Extraordinary and moving letter from Modigliani, of a graceful and melancholic poetry, writing to write, devising under the Moon.
Nov. 8, 1916. On the 9th the full moon.

“Cherissime Astrologer I am writing to tell you nothing.
I continue I will continue.
I write to write. Farewell. Modigliani.”

On the back of the letter, an annotation in Moricand’s hand indicates the route to get to rue de l’Odéon, to Adrienne Monnier’s bookstore, Modigliani’s regular refuge.

Demisch Danant

Demisch Danant was founded in 2005 by Suzanne Demisch and Stephane Danant. The gallery specializes in twentieth century French design with an emphasis on the late 1950’s through the 1970’s and represent the work of Maria Pergay, Pierre Paulin, Joseph-André Motte , Pierre Guariche, Michel Boyer , Philippon & Lecoq, René Jean Caillette, Jacques Dumond , Roger Fatus et Étienne Fermigier. Curated exhibitions on historical works are presented within the environments that reference architecture and interior design of that era.

The gallery represents also in the US the work of contemporary designers like Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance and Jos Devriendt, also features exhibitions concerning the intersection of architecture,design and art, including the work of Sheila Hicks, Eugène Leroy, Alain Jacquet and César. Demisch Danant is dedicated to research and scholarship on French design and has published and authored monographs including Antoine Philippon and Jacqueline Lecoq (2011) and Maria Pergay: Complete Works 1957-2010 (2012). Current projects include a comprehensive monograph on seminal designer André-Joseph Motte.

The idea of the Ring Chair was conceived by Pergay while peeling an orange.
The chair is one of her most iconic works.
