Fondation Louis Vuitton, exposition Mark Rothko

Starting from October 18, 2023, the Fondation Louis Vuitton presents an exceptional exhibition dedicated to the American artist Mark Rothko (1903-1970).

This retrospective, the first in France since that of the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1999, brings together an impressive collection of 115 artworks. These pieces come from the most prestigious institutional collections, such as the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Tate in London, the Phillips Collection in Washington, as well as from international private collections, including that of the artist’s family.

The exhibition, which spans the entirety of the Fondation, offers a captivating chronological journey. It guides us through Rothko’s entire career, from his early figurative works to the abstraction that characterizes his artistic output today.
