Antoine Bechet

Since the middle of the 15th century, craftmen such as cabinetmakers, sculptors, gilders, and bronze smiths compete in know-how to create frames showing the diversity of styles which mark he history of furniture, in Europe and elsewhere…

The selection on display shows the desired criteria for each item : elegance, right proportions, quality, conservation state and patina. When these elements meet, the frame becomes the indispensable setting to highlight any artwork.

Specialised in framing since more than 30 years, Antoine Bechet shows in his gallery a wide choice of antique frames from the 15th to the 20th century, memory of the craftmen of the past. Each piece is rigorously selected for its potential to highlight artworks, but also as an art object itself.

Antoine Bechet and his team perpetuate this tradition. One cabinet-maker, two gilders and three framers exert their talent to serve drawings and paintings. This knowledge allowed him to work for professional, high-profile collectors and museums worldwide.

The workshop was awarded ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ in 2017.
