This week, discover a rare edition of a book by Guillaume Apollinaire presented by the Librairie Benoît Forgeot, a painting by Claude Lepape exhibited by Galerie Chaptal and a canvas by Jean Degottex offered by Galerie Najuma.

Librairie Benoît Forgeot

Established in Paris for thirty years, Benoît Forgeot is located rue de l’Odéon, in the heart of the Latin Quarter. He deals with rare books and manuscripts from all periods, mainly of literary interest.

Along the years he also got specialized in the negotiation of intellectual archives such as Guy Debord’s or Michel Foucault’s, or the working library of Jacques Derrida.

Benoît Forgeot regularly publishes catalogues and was involved as a specialist in the auctions of major private libraries, such as Dominique de Villepin, Pierre Bergé or Jean-Paul Kahn.

The very rare first edition printed, or mimeographed,
in 25 copies only in the trenches by Apollinaire
with the assistance of Sergeants Bodard and Berthier (no. 16).

The collection of 21 poems, mostly calligrams,
ranks among the icons of the of the 20th Century avant-garde.

Galerie Chaptal

Based in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, Galerie Chaptal presents a selection of drawings, paintings and sculptures dating from 19th century to the 1920’s.

Over the years, the gallery has formed trusted connections with collectors, connoisseurs and institutions, both in France and abroad.

Claude Lepape was a painter and theatre decorator,
the son of the famous art deco illustrator Georges Lepape.

Claude Lepape paints portraits through objects, in which the model is no longer represented physically, but through personal and significant objects.

These mysterious portraits are transcended
by the artist’s virtuoso, hyper-realistic technique.

Galerie Najuma (F. Miliani)

The gallery has been open since 2007, specializing in post-war movements such as Abstract Expressionism, New Realists, Surface Media and Narrative Figuration.

The gallery is located in Marseille in the city center and has an area of 110 m2, is located in the district of the Prefecture (107 rue Breteuil, 13006).

As expressed above, they alternate between exhibitions by established post-war artists. they offer works by artists such as: Ceccarelli, Clavé, Chaissac, César, Degottex, Delbes, Hantaï, hartung, Jacquet, Masson…
