Founded in 1987 in Bordeaux, L’Horizon chimérique is both a publishing house and an art gallery specializing in paintings, drawings and sculptures from the 16th to the mid-20th century.
Over the years, the gallery has sold many pieces to museums. Our specialty is to contribute to the revelation of unpublished works and to a better knowledge of sometimes neglected artists, such as Georges Dorignac whom we resuscitated in
1995. Each year, several catalogs are distributed in digital version where the works are studied with rigor, presented with clarity and for some drawn from
anonymity.

This artwork was kept by the artist during his lifetime and was acquired in 1990 from his great-grand nieces and nephews.
It was exhibited in 1932 at the Petit-Palais during the retrospective of Gustave Doré’s Centenary.
